What is bi rads 3?

BI-RADS 3 is a category in the Breast Imaging-Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) that indicates a finding that is probably benign, meaning it is not likely to be cancerous, but could potentially become cancerous in the future. This category is used by radiologists who cannot rule out malignancy but do not have enough evidence to warrant a biopsy. It suggests the lesion has a less than 2% chance of being cancerous.

Patients with a BI-RADS 3 finding may be asked to return for a follow-up appointment in 6 or 12 months for additional imaging to monitor the stability of the lesion. It is important to follow up with any recommended appointments to ensure any changes to the lesion can be caught early if necessary.

It is important to note that a BI-RADS 3 category does not guarantee the lesion is benign, and a biopsy may still be recommended if there are any clinical concerns.
